I tend to photograph a lot of birds when I'm out, too, so you'll see some non-canaries and non-finches here. These are Disneyland ducks.

I have often set one of my bird cages by my aquarium. It really is fascinating to watch the birds study the fish and try to figure out what they are. I'm certain Squeak can recognize their eyes for eyes, and realize they're entities, but what does he make of their slow, flapless flight? He certainly has no concept he's looking into a tank of water.

A couple of weeks later, I got him a huge new cage. Usually, you'd get a cage like this for a small parrot. Once he got used to it, he really liked it.

01/07/05 Squeak visiting my office. He never much minded driving, and eventually he would even sing in my moving car, even in the dark. That's a happy canary.
(Another strike against the "they don't like their cages moved" advice).

Bath time. Notice the window is splattered with water from Squeak enjoying that little tub in there. He's looking pretty soaked right there too.

Just a nice close-up of Squeak.

All the bird advice books said canaries don't like to be moved, but Squeak - and all the birds I had since - liked to be moved to the balcony window in my bedroom in the morning, then covered in the dining room at night for warmth there.

This is Squeak, my first pet bird. He was a Christmas present from Debbie. I first met him on December 24, 2004. Good bird. He sang like crazy and was less than a year old then.
Raised in Upstate New York by two collectors - one completist and one selective - I naturally followed in their footsteps on a mission to gather far more interesting stuff than I could ever do anything with.
